Jason Clark, Knifemaker I began making custom knives in 2001 at the urges of my good friend Vince Dunbar, a long time custom knife maker and extremely gifted artist. I have never been taught or been to any specialized classes for knife making. I learned by making plenty of mistakes and receiving plenty of good tips and direction from other custom knife makers. For constructing knives my shop is equipped with belt grinders, disc grinders, mill, lathe, metal and wood band saws, drill presses, an electric heat treating ovens, and various other hand and power tools. I am currently a part-time knife maker and I have been employed full time as a Florida State Trooper since 1997. As a State Trooper I have been assigned as a law enforcement instructor for firearms and defensive tactics, and assigned as a Homicide Investigator for 4 years. I am also a National Rifle Association pistol instructor. I live on my family’s farm with my wife, son, and daughter. My family and I are active members of Branford First Baptist Church. I am a sole authorship maker, I construct 100% of my knives "in house" including designing, cutting, shaping, grinding, heat treating, fitting, and finishing. I also construct leather and kydex sheaths for my fixed blade knives. I use top quality materials and components for my knives. I insure a smooth action on my folders and consistent tight reliable lock up. I use several different finishes on my knives including: hand rubbing, media blasting, and polishing. I also make the damascus steel that I use on my knives. No two knives I make are the same, some may be very close but because everything is handmade there will be some amount of difference between similar knives. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Materials that I keep in stock: Blade Steel: CPM S30V, CPM 154CM, 154CM, 14-4CrMo, 5160, 1095, 1080, O-1 Hardwoods for handles: Curly Maple, Birdseye Maple, Quilted Maple, Rosewood, Bubinga, Puduak, Bocote, Cocobolo, Bloodwood, Tulipwood, Kingwood, Pau Ferro, Purple Heart, Galcono Alves, Osage Orange, Afican Blackwood, Tasmanian Fiddleblack Blackwood, I also stock bone and stag I stock various colors of G10 and various colors and styles of micarta Bolsters: Nicklesilver, Brass, carbon steel, stainless steel I am not limited to the items I have in stock but a deposit made be required for special items. **** Pricing **** - Frame lock folders start at $200 - Liner lock folders start at $225 - Small sheath knives and neck knives start at $125 - 3 inch to 4 inch sheath knives start at $135 - Large sheath knives start at $200 ** These price are subject to change with the cost of materials.
