 About... Jason Clark, Knifemaker

I began making custom knives in 2001 at the urging of my good friend Vince Dunbar, a long time custom knife maker and extremely gifted artist. I have never been taught or been to any specialized classes for knife making. I learned by making plenty of mistakes and receiving plenty of good tips and direction from other custom knife makers.

For constructing knives my shop is equipped with belt grinders, disc grinders, mill, lathe, metal and wood band saws, drill presses, an electric heat treating ovens, and various other hand and power tools.

I am currently a part-time knife maker and I have been employed full time as a Florida State Trooper since 1997. As a State Trooper I have been assigned as a law enforcement instructor for firearms and defensive tactics, and assigned as a Homicide Investigator for 4 years. I am also a National Rifle Association pistol instructor. I live on my family’s farm with my wife, son, and daughter. My family and I are active members of Branford First Baptist Church.

I am a sole authorship maker, I construct 100% of my knives "in house" including designing, cutting, shaping, grinding, heat treating, fitting, and finishing. I also construct leather and kydex sheaths for my fixed blade knives. I use top quality materials and components for my knives. I insure a smooth action on my folders and consistent tight reliable lock up. I use several different finishes on my knives including: hand rubbing, media blasting, and polishing. I also make the damascus steel that I use on my knives.

No two knives I make are the same, some may be very close but because everything is handmade there will be some amount of difference between similar knives.

Ordering:

Orders can be placed via e-mail, post-mail or telephone.

In some cases, I request that orders are accompanied by a deposit. Mostly, deposits are only necessary when I use exotic materials or an order is not a usual style or pattern or a name or custom lettering in applied to a knife.
If I am currently holding order for other customers, your order will be added to the list at the time of your order. I usually do not request a deposit until I plan to start your order.

I will use custom materials for handles and bolsters per customer request. I offer a choice of blade steels. I offer a choice of blade styles for instance: clip points, drop points...etc and different blade lengths.

Payment:
I am a one man operation, I channel almost all of the money paid for a knife back into supplies and equipment, the little extra left over goes to pay the bills. I expect payment as soon as possible after agreement to buy. I accept the following payments:
PayPal: Paypal can be sent to jclark75@windstream.net or jclark@clarkcustomknives.com

Check’s & money orders: I will accept personal check, in cases where the customer is unknown to me I will wait for the check to clear; otherwise I will ship the item as soon as the check or money order arrives.

Shipping:
I ship USPS Priority insured to the U.S. as soon as possible after payment is received. Shipping is not included in the price unless specifically stated. If you require a different carrier, then you will need to tell me so I can get a quote on the shipping cost.
Overseas shipping: I usually ship USPS Global priority but these packages cannot be insured. The buyer will be responsible for the shipment. In order to have your package insured it will need to be shipped via UPS or FedEx and the buyer will be responsible for the actual shipping cost and any custom’s fees.
